Families Now Preservation Program

Families Now is an intensive family preservation program serving high-risk families residing in Ulster County. Families Now is a service offered by the YWCA of Ulster County. Families Now is designed to offer immediate (at the point of crisis), short-term services to families with a child or children (up to 18 years) at imminent risk of out-of-home placement or to expedite the youth’s early return to his/her family. The program receives prioritized referrals exclusively from the Ulster County Department of Social Services.

Families Now intervention modality is solution-focused as opposed to focusing on finding causes or explanations for problems. As Families Now counselors work in partnership with their families, our hope is that they will be seen as allies and as powerful, positive collaborators who can provide families the opportunity to learn new behaviors, and helps them make better choices for their children.
